Fibromyalgia and Menopause

Is There a Connection Between Fibromyalgia and Menopause?

Research has not made a definitive connection between fibromyalgia and menopause. Because the majority of women diagnosed with fibromyalgia are between the ages of 40 and 55, some want to automatically link these two conditions due to the fact that this is also the average age of the onset of menopause. These two conditions may be more appropriately linked due to decreased levels of estrogen that occur during menopause. Decreased estrogen levels are linked to depression, anxiety, and sleep disorders; symptoms found in patients with menopause and fibromyalgia.

Due to the fact that some symptoms overlap and the age of onset is similar, someday they may find a link between the two. For now, consult your doctor to find the treatments that will address each condition separately if you do indeed suffer from both. The Menopause Advisor website contains information on the symptoms of menopause.

I personally agree with your comments, but there will always be some people who may not feel the same….
